What this is about

"3-Sets-Methode" is a word mark filed with the German Patent and Trademark Office (DPMA file no. 302026221621.8, classes 16/41/42, registration pending). Holder: Christian Alexander Nennemann. This page is a binding statement of how you may use the term. The intent is the broadest possible free spread of the method in practice, teaching, and research. The trademark protects only the commercial identity — it is not meant to stop anyone from applying, teaching, citing, or building on the method. If you are unsure, a short email to contact@3sets.org is enough. We try to decide pragmatically, not restrictively.

Free use (no permission required)

You may use the term "3-Sets-Methode" (or "3-Sets Method") at any time and without a license to: • discuss, review, or criticize the method in articles, books, podcasts, talks, blog posts, social media • apply the method in your own practice — as a coach, consultant, therapist, team lead, teacher, trainer, or private person • teach the method in workshops, seminars, lectures, or tutorials, as long as you do not issue official certificates in the name of the mark • cite the books bibliographically and include them in reading lists • conduct research, collect data, publish studies — including replications and critique • write open-source tools that support the method (diagnostic tools, visualizations, templates) • create translations, provided the source and trademark holder are named Nominative use ("working with the 3-Sets Method", "based on the 3-Sets Method") is explicitly welcomed. You do not need to add a ™ mark, ask for permission, or pay any fee.

Requires a license

The following uses require a written agreement with the trademark holder: • issuing official certificates with names such as "3-Sets-Methode Certified", "Certified 3-Sets Practitioner", "3-Sets Method Trainer", or confusingly similar wordings • commercial certification programs, accreditation schemes, or examination systems under the mark • using the term, or a confusingly similar variant, as a company, product, or service name • domains that contain "3sets", "3-sets-method", or confusingly similar terms as a main component • implying an official trainer, partner, or licensing relationship without a corresponding agreement • use of the logo or graphical brand elements License inquiries: contact@3sets.org. Nobody is rejected by default; the goal is fair terms.

What we will not do

We will not pursue private use, editorial mentions, academic discussion, or practice application. We will not send cease-and-desist letters without a prior friendly inquiry. We do not claim rights to terms like "Tools", "Skills", "Mind", or "one-third problem" — only the specific word combination "3-Sets-Methode" is protected. If you are unsure whether your use falls within the free area: just ask. An email costs less than a lawyer.

Suggested attribution

When used in publications, we appreciate a source reference, but it is not mandatory: "3-Sets-Methode is a pending word mark of Christian Nennemann (3sets.org)." For academic work, a bibliographic reference to the book series or the specification at 3sets.org/en/specification is sufficient.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be revised. Changes are published on 3sets.org and take effect from the date of publication. Licenses already granted remain in force on their agreed terms. There is no retroactive tightening.
